Endorsements
Abdul El-Sayed announced that he had been endorsed by the Michigan Democratic Party Black Caucus in his run for U.S. Senate, alongside the entire Michigan Democratic slate for the 2026 midterm elections. El-Sayed was also endorsed by the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.
The Michigan Education Association has recommended Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s Democratic candidacy for governor, noting that the MEA’s Statewide Screening and Recommendation Committee voted unanimously to do so its nearly 120,000 members.
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) has endorsed Justin Onwenu, the Democratic candidate for Michigan’s 1st Senate District.
Joanna Whaley, the Democratic nominee for Michigan’s 2nd House District, was endorsed this week by Democratic attorney general nominee Eli Savit, state Sen. Darrin Camilleri (D-Trenton), Wayne County Commissioner Alex Garza and state Rep. Carrie Rheingans (D-Ann Arbor).
Announcements
The Senate Leadership Fund announced it was spending $6 million in August to help elect former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-White Lake), the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate. That brings the group’s total commitment in the Great Lakes State to $51 million.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced that Christina Hines, the Democratic nominee for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District, has been added to the committee’s ‘Red to Blue’ program, in an effort to flip the seat currently held by U.S. Rep. John James (D-Shelby Township), who is the Republican nominee for governor.
