Claire Curzan of Virginia swam the 4th fastest 200 backstroke performance all-time posting a 1:46.85 to kick off Match #2 of the College Swimming League. Curzan now holds the top five performances all-time and remains the only sub-1:47 second swimmer in history.

Curzan holds the NCAA record in the 200 back with a 1:46.09 that she swam back in February at the 2026 ACC Championships. She was just 0.01 off her NCAA record at the 2026 NCAA Championships as she swam to a 1:46.10, the 2nd fastest swim all-time.
Tonight’s swim was over a second faster than she kicked off the season a year ago as she swam a 1:47.89 in a dual meet against UNC in October 2025. She has won the last two NCAA titles in the event and is in her senior season with the #1 ranked Virginia Cavaliers.
