A Fox River Grove mother is asking help finding her 24-year-old daughter, who family members say traveled to Chicago with her boyfriend before he returned home without her Thursday.
Alyssa M. Smith, 24, of Palatine, has been missing since September 27, according to flyers shared on social media by her mother, Rebecca Smith, of Fox River Grove.
Rebecca Smith posted the series of missing-person flyers asking people to share about her daughter’s disappearance and help bring her home.
Alyssa Smith traveled to Chicago with her boyfriend and has not been heard from by family and friends since, according to Illinois Missing Persons.
She was last seen in the West Garfield Park area of Chicago somewhere between Cicero Avenue, Pulaski Road and Madison Street, according to flyers shared by family members.
Smith was reported missing to the Palatine Police Department last Wednesday, the department said.
Her boyfriend returned home on Thursday and has been searching for her where he was last with her, according to a flyer her mother shared.
Family members said the boyfriend has been located but Smith is still missing.
Detectives have been actively investigating Smith’s whereabouts and following up on information about possible sightings since receiving the report, police said.
Police said they received information that Smith may have been seen in Chicago’s Grant Park area Saturday and in the area of Cicero Avenue and Roosevelt Road on the city’s West Side.
Alyssa Smith may have a black eye, according to a flyer her mother shared.
Detectives are working to follow up on those reports and are asking anyone who may have recently seen Smith or has information about her whereabouts to contact police.
Smith is approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 135 to 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, police said.
She has multiple piercings and numerous tattoos, including a “Pennywise” clown tattoo on her left shoulder, according to police. Her piercings include her nose, septum and eyebrow.
Smith is believed to have last been wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, light khaki-colored pants or sweatpants and white Adidas shoes, police said.
Anyone who recognizes Smith should contact law enforcement and not approach or try to detain her.
Anyone with information about Smith’s whereabouts is asked to contact Palatine Police Department detectives at 847-359-9000 or call 911.
