As JCB closes in on opening its 1 million-square-foot South Side plant, the British manufacturer already is gearing up for another San Antonio project.
An $8 million Boss JCB dealership is slated for the South Side, according to state filings. Construction is scheduled to start Nov. 16 on the approximately 24,000-square-foot JCB dealership. Work is expected to wrap up by the end of January 2028.
The facility at 13806 Texas 16 South will be the manufacturer’s second dealership in San Antonio, which will make it the first Texas city with multiple dealerships. JCB declined to comment on the new dealership.
Details in state filings are preliminary and subject to change without notice.

There are currently three JCB dealerships in Texas, with the existing San Antonio site at 3744 S.E. Loop 410 on the far Southeast Side. The manufacturer also has dealerships in Pflugerville and Corpus Christi.
JCB dealerships sell a variety of construction and agriculture equipment, including excavators that dig deep into earth, compact truck loaders that are often used in site preparation and telehandlers, which move materials to high or hard-to-reach places.
Plans for the second San Antonio dealership come as the manufacturer nears the opening of its $500 million South Side plant, which initially will produce telescopic handlers and aerial lift machines.
Isaac Neri, a JCB marketing specialist, said the new facility has a temporary certificate of occupancy and that the British manufacturer has begun testing and preparing for production to launch in the first quarter of next year.

The grand opening for the entire South Side plant is slated for the second week of April.
The factory will be company’s largest of its two dozen factories and will have the capacity to triple in size as production expands. JCB plans to hire 1,500 workers at the plant. JCB did not reply in time for publication to an inquiry about how many of these jobs have been filled.
President and CEO of JCB North America, Richard Fox-Marrs has said that once the plant is operational, production would be 80% dedicated to construction equipment. Fox-Marrs previously pointed out that Texas was the largest construction equipment market in the nation, and that San Antonio’s central location gives it access to ports and supply chains.
