NORMAN, Okla. — Sam Houston golfers Grace Jin and Ameila Guo finished in the top-30 at the NCAA Norman Regional at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club on Wednesday.
Weather in the area forced the field to play two rounds on Monday and complete the final round on Wednesday. Jin and Guo faced each began their final rounds late on Tuesday, making it onto their second nine holes before heavy rain began to fall, toughening conditions for the final round of play.
Jin shot 2-over par in her final round, putting her tied for 23rd with a 54-hole score of 219 (+3). Coming just behind her, Guo moved up six places after shooting just one-over par in round 3 and finishing tied for 26th at +4.
The defending NCAA Champions, Stanford, took the regional championship and set a team course record at 23-under par. Northwestern finished behind the Cardinal at -14 with Michigan State to follow at -1. Oklahoma and Baylor were the last teams to punch their ticket to the NCAA Championships at even and 3-over par.
The pair finished off the spring season strong with several accolades and top-10 finishes, earning all-CUSA first team and all-academic honors.
Jin is ranked No. 145 nationally after five top-10 finishes this year, including two individual titles and placing fourth at the CUSA Championships. Guo is ranked No. 206 in the country with a tie for 11th at the CUSA Championships and three top-10 finishes including her fifth-place finish at “Mo” Morial Invitational.
