The notification process for the City of Los Angeles Red Flag Parking Restrictions program has a new home at LAFD.org/RedFlag
The City of Los Angeles Red Flag Parking Restrictions are enacted when the weather conditions meet specific criteria; winds 25 mph or greater and relative humidity of 15% or less.
When these potentially dangerous conditions exist, the Red Flag Parking Restrictions ensure critical fire department access is maintained in the hillside communities with narrow, winding roads.
Nearly 11,000 residents are subscribed to the Red Flag alert system and receive notifications via their chosen method; text, phone call and/or email. While the notifications will now look different, they will still be provided with the same 12 hour warning and a daily update to the status.
For those subscribers who do not wish to change anything in their notification method or contacts, no action is needed.
If you want to update your contacts, you will need to “Unsubscribe” from the existing account via the notification sent on July, 7 2025. You will then need to create an account on LAFD.org/RedFlag. If you create a new account without unsubscribing, you will receive double notifications.
For anyone new to the Red Flag program, you only need to create a new account and enter your contact information.
