Trenton, N.J. – Prominent statewide Latino organizations announced the creation of “Serve for Change,” a coalition to advocate for Latino representation within state government leadership and appointments.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Governor-Elect Sherrill and recognize the tremendous task she and her team have before them as they prepare to govern,” stated Arlene Quinones-Perez, General Counsel for Latina Civic. “We look forward to partnering with her and the Transition Team’s leadership to help identify talented and qualified Hispanic New Jerseyans who share the Governor-Elect’s vision to make life easier and more affordable for all of us in the Garden State.”

Serve for Change is a volunteer-led collaborative composed of the leadership of each member organization:

  • American Mexican Regional Chamber of Commerce, President Francisco J. Del Toro

  • Ecuadorian-American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey, President Diego Munoz

  • Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey, President Cristal Lambert

  • Latina Civic Action, Vice President Lucia Gomez

  • Latina Civic Foundation, President Maria Del Cid-Kosso

  • Latina Civic PAC, General Counsel Arlene Quinones-Perez

  • Latino Action Network, President Javier Robles

  • Latinx Greeks for America, President Rudy Rodas

  • La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc., National President Pedro Claudio

  • LUPE Fund, President Rosemarie Moyeno Matos

  • Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey, Chairman Luis De La Hoz

  • Unidos US Action Fund, President Rafael Collazo

This is an ongoing collaboration, and more Latino organizations will continue to be included.

New Jersey’s Latino population accounts for about 22% of the state’s total population, and the mission of this group is to ensure at least equal representation in our state’s government by engaging proactively in the appointments process.
