Elon Musk’s 24-hour Los Angeles Tesla diner and charging station, which has been in progress for seven years, is nearing completion on its interior. Electric car publication, Not a Tesla App, published initial photos of the interior, shot through the window of the building. The photos show upholstered couches, a bar, and more seating installed in the retro-futuristic interior, which looks like an unimaginative take on a space cantina. Not a Tesla App also recently reported that the diner was testing its 45-foot screens, which are meant to screen movies for guests charging their Teslas on-site.
As the diner nears completion, it seems to have found its chef. Self-identified Tesla investor Sawyer Merritt broke the news that former grilled cheese chef and the founder of New School American cheese, Eric Greenspan, had been tapped to lead the kitchen. In the post on Musk-owned platform X, Merritt wrote that “1950s retro charm” and “dazzling neon lights,” plus burgers, and hand-spun milkshakes. While the diner seems to be closer to completion, an opening date has not been announced yet.
