The Park City | Summit County Green Business Program has named Abode Luxury Rentals the 2026 Green Business of the Year, recognizing the company for its commitment to improving and expanding sustainable practices across its operations and helping guests make more sustainable choices during their stay.
The award was presented on Thursday at the Park City Chamber & Visitors Bureau’s 2026 Annual Meeting, which was the first time it was presented as part of the event. Abode is the first property management and vacation rental company to receive the award and the first local business honored under the Green Business Program’s revamped certification model.
Abode rejoined the Green Business Program in 2025 and has already achieved Silver certification. Abode said it found many practical ways to make sustainability part of its everyday operations, focusing particularly on waste reduction. The company piloted refillable toiletries to reduce single-use items and, acting on an employee idea, installed onsite storage boxes to reduce trips and vehicle miles associated with replenishing supplies.
Other waste reduction efforts include recycling mattresses from its properties through Spring Back Utah, collecting food waste at its office and addressing guest food waste by raising awareness within the nightly rental industry and training staff to help redirect donation-ready food to local nonprofits and food pantries.
Abode said it also reexamined what it buys and uses every day, including switching to non-toxic cleaning products for use across its properties and replacing large plastic laundry detergent bottles with recyclable boxes of laundry detergent sheets.
Visitors to Adobe properties receive practical information about public transit and active transportation options, suggestions for conserving water and energy and ways to reduce and recycle waste during their stay. Abode also includes regular sustainability updates in its communications with property owners, extending its efforts to educate and engage beyond its own staff.
Abode owners Rachel and Rob Alday, an employee-led Green Team, lead the work, as well as employees who help put the practices into action every day, Adobe said. The Green Business Program especially recognized Julie Finnegan, property enhancement and sustainability manager, and the broader Abode team for their leadership and continued commitment.
“Abode is a clear example of what happens when sustainability is built into everyday business operations,” said Emily Quinton, Summit County Health sustainability director. “Their team continues to find practical ways to reduce waste, improve operations and build on the work they’ve already started.”
