(ABC 6 News) – Local cannabis businesses will once again be up for discussion for officials in Albert Lea.

On Monday, March 23rd, the Albert Lea City Council will vote on registrations for two more cannabis business applicants.

One of the applications is for Jerry and Angie Collins of Big Dreams Organics, an existing CBD product retailer in Albert Lea. If their registration is approved, they would be able to expand its line of cannabis products.

The second application is for Brenda Zamora of Aficionados LLC. It would be a new cannabis business at 2006 E. Main St. the longtime site of the Casa Zamora restaurant.

This all comes after the city council recently voted to increase its cannabis business limit from two to four. If these applications are approved, the city would reach that limit.

In 2025, the city council approved registrations for Matchbox Farms and Black Husky, neither of which have opened yet due to a lack of supplies.

Monday’s meeting will start at 7 p.m. at City Hall in Albert Lea.
