Democrats desperately need to win in 2028. There is no room for error, the stakes are just too large.

There’s lots of candidates being talked about right now, including JB Pritzger, Pete Buttiegieg, Gavin Newsom, and Andy Beshear. All good candidates for various reasons.

Another name I keep hearing is Alexandria Occasio-Cortez. She seems to have a lot of support here. But the truth is, as much as you might not want to hear this, we must nominate a White man. We will lose if we nominate a Latino Women.

Just let me say right off the top I like women, I think they’re great. And the Latino community is just awesome. I’m being neither racist nor misogynist nor any other “ist” you can think of when I say she shouldn’t run. All I’m really being is a realist. And as a realist, I know that one thing Americans have proven time and time again is that they will never vote for a Latino Woman for president.

And not only that, AOC has proven she is not up to the task. Sure, she’s won elections, but winning a safe seat in liberal, cosmopolitan New York City doesn’t mean you can win in Wisconsin or Maine. Americans don’t want the coastal elite as their president.

And, did anyone see when she was asked about Taiwan during an appearance a few months ago? She was hesitant and indecisive. Sure, you say, she made a mistake and we shouldn’t judge her too harshly for that. But what if she makes that same mistake during a debate or media appearance? Can we afford to take that chance? Not being able to answer that question shows how weak her political instincts are.

She’s just not up to the task. End of discussion. We need to look at someone else.

We need a candidate who will focus on the issues that matter, the ones ordinary, everyday, midwestern Americans talk about around the kitchen table. Do you really think heartland Americans will be able to relate to a Latino woman from coastal New York?

This election is too important to risk running anything other than a White man. This isn’t being racist, it’s not being sexist. Don’t throw those accusations at me because if you knew me you’d know that I’m for civil rights. But now is not the time for an identity candidate, it’s not the time to talk about civil rights, it’s just not the time to nominate a woman.

Tell AOC she shouldn’t run. And, tell any other candidate who can’t win for the same reasons the same thing.

***Do I really need to add a snark tag?***
