CONTENT AMERICAS: The Mediapro Studio US & Canada, the international studio’s new North American division, has hired Francesca Ricagni as head of content for US Hispanic.

The executive joins from Apple TV+, where she served as creative executive, and previously oversaw original programming for Latin America at Amazon Studios.
In her new role, Ricagni will report to JC Acosta, head of The Mediapro Studio US & Canada, and will be responsible for the creation and production strategy of Spanish-language content for channels, operators and streamers in North America.
Ricagni will join The Mediapro Studio’s panel at Content Americas this Wednesday. Together with Acosta and the studio’s head for Mexico and Colombia, Catalina Porto, where they will explain the studio’s plans for Latin America and US Hispanic.

Throughout his career, Ricagni has dedicated herself to amplifying Hispanic and Latin American voices in the entertainment industry. At Apple TV+, she has participated in series such as Land of Women, starring Eva Longoria in her first leading role in Spanish; Familia de medianoche, produced by Fabula; and Acapulco, the bilingual series with Eugenio Derbez that has accumulated four seasons.

Regarding the type of projects The Mediapro Studio will seek to promote, Ricagni said the objective is to “open new paths” to tell “diverse and multifaceted stories, and create content that celebrates our culture and our own perspective, elevating them to a global stage.”
Previously in her career, Ricagni worked at Amazon Studios, where she set up original programming for Latin America and oversaw a slate of more than 30 projects.
