In today’s NIL era of college football with the transfer portal, one never really knows what the future might hold for standout college football players.

Arizona State football appears to know the immediate future of one of its best players, based on a social media post after the Sun Devils’ 39-31 double-overtime loss to Texas in the Peach Bowl College Football Playoff game on Wednesday.

Sam Leavitt, ASU’s standout freshman quarterback, posted an eight-word message on Instagram after the game.

That message? “Love this team!! We’ll be back believe that.”

“We’ll be back”? That certainly seems to indicate that Leavitt will be back for his sophomore season, which is welcome news for ASU football fans who saw Leavitt shine during his first season in Tempek.

Arizona State finished with an 11-3 record, a Big 12 championship and a College Football Playoff appearance.

ASU went 3-9 in both 2022 and 2023.

A social media post from ASU quarterback Sam Leavitt after Arizona State's Peach Bowl loss on Wednesday appears to indicate his return to the Sun Devils next season.

Leavitt went 216-for-350 this season, passing for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns, with only six interceptions.

He also rushed 110 times for 443 yards and five touchdowns.

ASU does lose some key players, most notably Cam Skattebo, but the majority of the standouts on the team are scheduled to return in 2025.

After being picked to finish last in the Big 12 preseason poll before this season, Leavitt and the Sun Devils will surely be at or near the top in the prediction for the conference in 2025.

As for whether Arizona State will “be back” in the College Football Playoff as Leavitt posted, we’ll have to wait to see.
