DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team will be well-represented by Michael Smith Jr. at this year’s MLB Draft Combine, Major League Baseball announced.
Named to the ABCA/Rawlings East All-Region Second Team, Smith Jr. earned a spot in the FlyBoys’ record book, setting the single-season record in stolen bases with 38, ranking second in walks with 47 and finishing fourth in single-season runs with 65 and 20 hit-by-pitches. In his 53 games played, the Pensacola, Fla. native hit 10 doubles, 10 home runs and four triples, leading the team with a .502 on-base percentage.
The rising senior will be the second Flyer to be at the combine since Riley Tirotta was invited to 2021’s inaugural combine. The MLB Draft Combine will feature 335 draft prospects, including 195 collegiate players and 140 high school athletes, as well as a decorated group of former Major League players and coaches, members of Club baseball operations departments, scouting directors and other Club personnel.
The combine will take place on June 23-26 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Ariz. MLB Network will have coverage of the MLB Draft Combine beginning at 12 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 23. The MLB Draft will be on July 11-12 in Philadelphia, Pa.
