Boston College Law School has moved up another five spots to #20 in the US News and World Report’s latest edition of best law schools, released this morning. This marks an increase of 17 spots since 2022, and the School’s highest ranking in US News since its all-time high of #19 in 1993.
The Law School also did well in the US News specialty rankings, including #16 for the Law Schools with Most Grads at Big Law Firms, up two spots over last year. BC Law moved up four in tax at #8, moved up 10 spots to #25 in business & corporate, up nine in constitutional law to #26, and up four to #27 in intellectual property.
BC Law’s improvements in employment rates, bar passage, and admissions metrics were once again the primary drivers of its higher score.
In a recent email, BC Law Dean Odette Lienau noted that while taking time for the community to celebrate the achievement was important, she also recognized that rankings fluctuate. “While they can provide insight and may be instrumentally helpful, they do not provide anything close to a full measure of the institution or the importance of its mission,” Lienau wrote. “My responsibility is to protect and enrich what makes BC Law excellent and unique, ensure that our students receive the very best possible education and outcomes, and support faculty who shape legal knowledge within and beyond the classroom—all of which furthers our underlying goal of using law for the greater good.”
BC Law scores well in a number of other rankings. The school comes in at #10 in National Law Journal’s ‘Go-to Law Schools’ for big firm hiring. Princeton Review ranks BC Law #10 for Best Classroom Experience, while Above the Law ranks it #17 in Top 50 Law Schools. Firm Prospect ranks the School #13 Top Schools for AMLaw 100 hiring.
