WILMINGTON DE: Across Delaware, Latino entrepreneurs are doing more than starting businesses — they are creating spaces, building connections, and redefining what opportunity looks like within their communities.
From beauty studios to creative agencies, these businesses reflect not only resilience, but vision. Behind each one is a story shaped by risk, adaptation and a desire to build something meaningful — often without a clear roadmap, but with a strong sense of purpose.
Here are two Latino-owned businesses making an impact across the state.
Mirame Beauty Studio — Beauty and lash services
Founded in 2019, Mirame Studio began in the smallest room of Jasmine Santiago’s home at a time when she was two months pregnant and navigating an unexpected career change.
After losing her job during pregnancy because of health complications, Santiago decided to pursue something she had long felt drawn to: building something of her own.
“I always felt like I wanted something for myself, even if I didn’t know exactly what it was,” she said.
Before launching Mirame Studio, Santiago was already working in the beauty industry under her brand, JSR Beauty, providing makeup services for weddings and events. Over time, her passion for beauty, combined with her growing presence on social media, helped her connect with clients and build a loyal following.
Still, the early stages were not easy.
“Not having clients at the beginning made me question if it was going to work,” she said. “And I didn’t have guidance — I had to learn everything on my own.”
As the daughter of an immigrant mother, Santiago faced additional barriers, including limited access to information about how to build a business formally.
Beyond financial stability, Santiago said her motivation has always been rooted in something deeper.
“More than anything, what really motivated me was the impact and the human connections,” she said. “The work never felt like work — it felt like sharing with someone and building real relationships while doing what I love.”
Through persistence and consistency, her business grew, largely driven by her authenticity online. Today, Mirame Studio has built a strong client base, with Santiago serving as the face of the brand and creating a personalized, high-end experience for each client.
Her growth, she said, has been both professional and personal.
“I truly believe that growing a business is growing as a person,” she said. “As I’ve evolved mentally and emotionally, that has reflected in the type of clients I attract and the level of my business.”
“We want every person who walks in to feel like they made a good investment — not just in a service, but in an experience.”
Her focus on detail, transparency and connection continues to set her business apart in a competitive industry.
