Former President Bill Clinton was in Phoenix on Wednesday, Oct. 23 to campaign for Vice President Kamala Harris, less than two weeks before election day.
In between appearances at campaign events, Clinton stopped for a bite at Poncho’s Mexican Food in Phoenix.
It was his second visit to the south Phoenix Mexican restaurant. His first was in July 1999, during his presidency. He ordered the Fiesta Chiquita appetizer platter that included two mini-tacos, two mini-chimichangas, two mini-tamales and a side of beans.
A mural was painted on the restaurant wall immortalizing his first visit in 1999. He took several photos next to it during his second visit.

On his Oct. 23 visit, he ordered four shredded beef tacos, four shredded chicken tacos, four ground beef and potato tacos, four fish tacos, four half pints of beans, four half pints of rice, a medium bag of chips and a pint of hot sauce, according to the restaurant manager.

Clinton placed his order outside at the takeout counter alongside Rep. Ruben Gallego. He then went inside the restaurant for approximately 30 minutes to shake hands and take photos with other patrons and some state lawmakers.
It was one woman’s 77th birthday. Clinton, 78, reportedly wished her a happy birthday and told her she was young.
