The Buffalo Bills on Tuesday revealed the final renderings of the bison statues set to stand outside of the new Highmark Stadium.
The Bills say a 27-foot-tall bull, a 22-foot-tall cow and 12-foot-tall calf will anchor the “Family Circle” in front of the stadium. The installation will be surrounded by plaques honoring legendary Bills players, and will include benches for fans to gather.
The statues will have five programmable lighting systems, with the bull and cow having the ability to emit smoke through their nostrils.
“This portion of the project has taken several years to come together. Right from the start, we wanted to place American Bisons in front of our stadium,” Frank Cravotta, the Bills senior vice president of design, stadium operations, said in a statement. “It’s taken a lot of hard work and coordination [and] we’re thrilled with the result.”
The bison are being constructed by ART Research Enterprises in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, according to the team.
The Bills say the project will be completed prior to the opening of the new Highmark Stadium.
