The Portland Trail Blazers’ 119-97 loss to the Golden State Warriors will remain a smudgy asterisk when the story of their 2025-26 season is told. The game was largely unremarkable, one of a litany of routine wins in the annals of the formerly-dynastic Warriors, a nondescript blowout for the recently-struggling Blazers. But the evening will not be expunged completely. As the Santa Cruz Sentinel describes, between them, the two teams set a new NBA record for three-point shooting.
21 players appearing in the same game is not guaranteed in the NBA. Many rotations are shorter than that. As it turns out, 21 different players hitting a three-point shot has never happened before in the history of the league.
Last night all 11 of the Trail Blazers who appeared hit at least one three. 10 of 14 Warriors players did the same. That broke the record of 20 set by the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks in 2020, echoed by the Nets and Toronto Raptors in 2022.
