Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is pregnant with her third child — a baby girl. The mayor first shared the news Monday and later spoke about her pregnancy during an event Tuesday.”I am expecting our third child in our family — a baby girl due in January,” Wu said. ” It maybe a new experience for the city but not new for me. I’ve had two kids while in office, and it’s certainly, at times a chaotic, and messy juggle, but one that we see families across the city doing their very best to balance.” The mayor also said she and her husband hoped to grow her family sooner, but she experienced two miscarriages.”We actually experienced pregnancy loss — two separate instances of that, as well. This has been beautiful, and all signs are really good,” the mayor said. Wu, 39, is the first woman and person of color elected Mayor of Boston. She assumed the office in November 2021.”Conor, Blaise, Cass, and I can’t wait to welcome another little one to our family and to Boston. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but I’m due in January and couldn’t be more grateful,” Wu wrote in a statement Monday distributed by her campaign. She and her husband, Conor, already have two children, Blaise and Cass.”I’ve been a mom and caregiver as long as I’ve been in public service,” Wu wrote in her announcement. “It’s that daily juggle—and the struggles and dreams of families across our neighborhoods—that keep me grounded in the work and moving with urgency.”Wu’s current term will end on Jan. 5, 2026. She said that the new addition to her family would not influence her decision to run for reelection. Wu is also a Massachusetts delegate to the upcoming Democratic National Convention.
