Quack, quack — we can hear the cheers now for the city’s first duck boat parade since the Patriots’ Superbowl win in 2019. It’s been a long time coming since the city last celebrated a Celtics championship in 2008.

Curious how long ago that was? Let us set the stage for the year 2008 — Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Kendrick Perkins were on starting lineup, Barack Obama was elected to office, Apple released its second iPhone, and Lady Gaga released her debut album.

After Monday’s finals win against the Mavericks on 617 day, the C’s + the city are ready to have a quacking good party.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Causeway Street and end near the Hynes Convention Center.

Mayor Wu and city officials announced the duck boat parade will take place on Friday, June 21 beginning at 11 a.m. from TD Garden on Causeway Street. The route will travel roughly 2 miles, passing by City Hall Plaza and the Boston Common on Tremont Street, and end on Boylston Street by the Hynes Convention Center.

The city shared event details and safety measures to make the parade a family-friendly celebration. Note: City streets in the West End, Downtown, and Back Bay will be shut down to traffic for the parade route.

Public transit is strongly recommended. The MBTA will have increased subway service and modified Commuter Rail schedules with additional train times before and after the parade.

Best spots to watch the parade:

  • City Hall Plaza beer garden
  • Outside of the Boston Public Market
  • Along the Boston Common
  • Boston Public Library steps
