The NYPD arrested burglars last night in Brooklyn – and found one of the city’s largest illegal cannabis distribution operations to date, the mayor’s office said. The NYPD were originally called to 63 Adelphi Street for reports of a burglary around 5:30 a.m. They say three people were arrested. Upon further investigation, police found marijuana products including pre-rolls, THC vapes, edibles and THC concentrate. Millions of dollars’ worth of cannabis products were seized. “The primary reason for all of the enforcement surrounding these illegal shops is the health and safety of the children, and the people that are using, even adults who are using the unregulated, untested product,” said Maureen Kokeas, of the Sheriff’s Office. Mayor Eric Adams Office said in part in a statement, “Through ‘Operation Padlock to Protect,’ we have already sealed over 200 illegal smoke shops, and today, we tackled a major distributor supplying these shops with products threatening the safety and health of our communities, particularly young New Yorkers. We are continuing to investigate the incident.” The Sheriff’s Office told News 12 that they will be removing the products from the warehouse with the NYPD in the coming days. Authorities were trying to find the owner of the warehouse as of Saturday night.
