Park City Ski & Snowboard ha organizado la carrera recreativa 5K del Cuatro de Julio durante 42 años consecutivos.

Gary Cole, fundador de Cole Sport, y Phil Thomson iniciaron esta carrera, la cual ahora tiene un cupo limitado a 1,000 corredores por año.

El copropietario de Cole Sport y exalumno de esquí y snowboard, Adam Cole, señaló que la carrera ha seguido la misma ruta durante cuatro décadas.

“Es divertido. Se corre principalmente de bajada, bastante rápido, tus piernas se mueven rápido a las 8 a. m. y luego das la vuelta, chocas los cinco con tus amigos en el camino de regreso y puedes ver a la gente caminar, y a los niños esforzándose, respirando con mucha fuerza”, comentó en el programa Local News Hour de KPCW.

La carrera del 4 de julio comienza cerca del estacionamiento First Time de Park City Mountain.

Los corredores deben inscribirse a más tardar el 3 de julio. No habrá inscripciones el mismo día del evento.

El costo es de $50 para adultos y $30 para niños de 11 años o menos.

La carrera es una de las mayores actividades de recaudación de fondos para el equipo. Todos los ingresos benefician a los 1,200 atletas de deportes de invierno de Park City Ski & Snowboard.
