DENVER (KDVR) — A man in Denver posted on Nextdoor this week after he captured an RV on Pearl Street hitting multiple cars and leaving behind what he said was a slew of damages.

“I was watching TV and I had the windows open,” said Nick, who captured the video. “I heard a crunching noise and people yelling.”

Nick shared the video exclusively with FOX31. The video is about 40 seconds long and shows a white RV with the letters “TIOGA” on the side. The RV’s driver was traveling northbound on Pearl Street, scraping multiple cars between 10th and 11th.

The whole situation happened around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, according to Nick.

“I noticed the RV had snagged someone’s bumper and ran into three more cars,” Nick said.

In the video, people can be heard yelling and horns honking. Nick said the RV left too quickly for him to grab the plate numbers.

“I tried to run downstairs to get the plate,” Nick said. “Then went and looked for them in my car to see if they parked anywhere but they were gone.”

Capitol Hill hit-and-runs are common, residents say

Nick said it isn’t rare to see hit-and-runs in Capitol Hill, where he lives. He now has a garage space but parked his car on the street for years prior.

“I’ve already had my car scraped twice, but I didn’t have any license plate number or a note left or anything like that,” Nick said.

His neighbor Lacey Turner didn’t witness the RV incident but said she wasn’t surprised to hear this happened.

“Cars, really fast all the time, there are dogs,” Turner said, “So I am constantly seeing debris, broken mirrors and lots of dents in people’s cars.”

Turner said she’s a victim of hit-and-runs herself.

“It has been four to five times with hit and runs, then an attempted break-in,” Turner said. “One car hit-and-run completely totaled that car when it was just parked on the side of the street.”

FOX31 reached out to the Denver Police Department to see if they received any calls about the video. They said they didn’t receive any reports over the phone, but people could have reported the damage in the video via the department’s online portal.

Denver police also reminded drivers to be vigilant about their cars, ensuring that the doors are locked and everything inside is taken out, so you aren’t prone to break-ins. The agency also said if you come out to your car with damage, report it over the phone or online, as a police report could be needed for your insurance.

Both Nick and Turner asked the community to be a good neighbor. They said to leave a note and report something if you see something.

“The BMW had his bumper pulled off and so did the RV,” Nick said about the damage. “The red car was all scraped up as well.”
