DOWNEY – The Catholic Association for Latino Leadership (CALL) has made a $7,500 donation to Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Downey to support the school’s ongoing construction efforts.

CALL is a nonprofit organization created to mobilize Catholic Latinos, empowering them to become who God has called them to be and inspiring them to lead their communities, the country, and the Church.

The donation reflects CALL’s continued commitment to supporting Catholic institutions and strengthening the role of Latino leaders in service to faith-based education. The gift comes as Catholic schools continue their mission of forming students in faith, character, and service.

“Catholic education is not just about ‘information’ — it is about ‘transformation.’ It is not about training future workers for the job market. It is about forming personalities and communicating wisdom, bringing young people to know the God who made them and his purposes,” said Most Reverend José H. Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles.

“OLPH School does more than educate; it is building the next generation of Catholic leaders,” said Fernando Vasquez, CALL Treasurer and former Downey Mayor. “CALL is proud to invest in a future rooted in faith, character, and service.”

Our Lady of Perpetual Help School will use the donation to assist with construction efforts that will benefit students and the broader parish community.

Catholics who would like to learn more about CALL, support its mission, or get involved are encouraged to visit www.call-usa.org.
