RENO, Nev. – Celebrate the Year of the Snake at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) with a selection of incredible dining specials and menus at Rim Asian Bistro and The Grand Buffet as well as traditional lion dance demonstrations on the casino floor on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 5 and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m.

According to the Chinese lunar calendar, the New Year begins on Jan. 29 and marks the transition from the Year of the Dragon to the Year of the Snake. The Snake symbolizes wisdom, intuition, and transformation, offering opportunities for personal growth and change. Known for its ability to shed its skin, the Snake represents the process of letting go of the old and embracing the new. Individuals are encouraged to reflect on past experiences, welcome fresh beginnings, and approach the year ahead with adaptability and resilience.

Rim Asian Bistro
To usher in the Year of the Snake, Rim Asian Bistro will offer guests a special four-course meal, themed to honor festive customs.

The night begins with a celebration of “Wealth,” featuring shrimp cheung fun, a delightful dish made with shrimp, shitake mushrooms and tofu wrapped in silky rice noodles, topped with pickled radish and drizzled in sweet-and-sour soy sauce and house-made chili oil. The second course, themed around “Family, Unity and Strength,” features fried gua bao. Warm, steamed buns are filled with crispy BBQ pork belly, crunchy cucumber, tangy pickled red onion and a refreshing Asian coleslaw.

The main course is a celebration of “Happiness of Longevity” featuring a grand seafood harvest basket. This bundle of seafood includes scallops, shrimp, mussels, calamari, claw snow crab, and an assortment of vegetables such as baby corn, carrot and snow peas—all served in a crispy noodle basket. For dessert, celebrate “Faith, Hope and Love” with a mandarin mousse cake made with a Grand Marnier glaze and topped with five-spice candied almonds, served alongside a scoop of dark chocolate gelato provides a decadent finish to this celebratory meal.

This Chinese New Year menu will be served from Jan. 31 through Feb. 2 from 5 to 10 p.m., starting at $59 per person. Individual courses are also available à la carte.

The Grand Buffet
Chinese New Year is grand at The Grand Buffet. Choose from favorites and authentic flavors like dim sum, hot and sour soup or long-life noodles. Or load a plate with fresh seafood like soy ginger salmon, Shanghai shrimp stir fry or Chinese-style steamed fish. Guests can also enjoy a sushi station filled with top selections.

Guests in the mood for something hearty can try the hoisin BBQ pork ribs, whole roasted pig or bring the heat with Kung Pao chicken. Not to be missed is the fried rice and fried noodle station, where guests can load a plate with their favorite sides and create an unforgettable meal.

This special Chinese New Year menu will be available on Friday, Jan. 31, from 5 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, Feb. 1, and Sunday, Feb. 2, from 4 to 9 p.m. Prices start at $69 for adults and $12 for children.
