A Chicago woman who was shot five times by a Border Patrol agent last year sued the federal government, saying the agent opened fire as she drove away and officials lied to cover up the unjustified shooting and smear her reputation.
The suit, filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, brings claims under the Federal Tort Claims Act including battery, negligence, and malicious prosecution.
