A Chicago personal injury attorney has looked at vehicle crash data going back a decade and found that the most serious crashes are not happening at the busiest intersections with the most crashes.
Attorney Adam Zayed, founder of Zayed Law, looked at data from roughly a million crashes.
He ranked the locations where the crashes resulted in the most serious injuries or deaths.
He found that none of the 20 busiest intersections are in the top 20 for severity of injuries.
And all that ranked in the top 20 are on the west and south sides.
“The vast majority of the most dangerous intersections, we’re talking about long, wide, relatively uncongested arterial roads that also pass through residential neighborhoods,” Zayed said during an interview with WBBM. “Because they’re relatively uncongested and the speed limit may be a little higher, we’re looking at situations where the severity of the crash tends to be higher.”
He found that the intersection with the most severe crashes in terms of injuries and deaths is 74th Street and Ashland Avenue.
