Citizenship test changes: USCIS announces new naturalization test to become US citizenship

New changes are coming to the U.S. citizenship test, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced on Wednesday.

The government is reinstating a 2020 exam from President Trump’s first administration.

Applicants will have to study 128 questions about U.S. history and politics and correctly answer 12 out of 20 questions.

Previously, applicants had to answer six out of 10 questions correctly.

“These critical changes are the first of many,” said USCIS Spokesperson Matthew Tragesser.

Those taking the test also have to demonstrate that they’ve lived in the U.S. lawfully for three to five years.

They must also prove that they can read, write and speak English.
