One Southern Indiana has approved an emergency loan for The Widow’s Walk Ice Creamery in Clarksville.

The funding comes from the One Fund Loan Program, which is designed to assist small businesses in Clark, Floyd, Jefferson, and Washington counties with operational costs. It provides no-interest microloans to small businesses in need as a “lender of last resort.”

“The One Fund was the perfect opportunity for Widow’s Walk Ice Creamery,” said Rachael Armstrong, the Small Business Navigator at One Southern Indiana and the Indiana Small Business Development Center. “We are thrilled to see how Widow’s Walk will grow this season, and the success that will come from helping small businesses achieve their goals.”

Widow’s Walk Ice Creamery, built in 1998, has been a staple of the community for decades and serves ice cream, milkshakes, and other sweet treats to over 10,000 customers a month during the summer months.

1si did not provide specific details on what the loan will be used for.

One Southern Indiana has been the economic development organization and chamber of commerce for Clark and Floyd counties since 2006, and formed the One Fund Loan Program in 2022.

The program has provided financial assistance to small businesses throughout the four-county area, especially those impacted by the the Sherman Minton Bridge Renewal Project and the Main Street Revitalization project in New Albany.
