Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to welcome Steven K. Sims to the firm as a partner in the Corporate and Business Transactions Practice Group. He will have a presence in both the Nashville, Tennessee, and Chicago offices, having established long-term client relationships in Chicago over the course of his legal career.
Guided by more than three decades of legal experience, Steve provides comprehensive counsel to businesses and individuals navigating a wide variety of transactions, including complex mergers and acquisitions, financing and capital-raising transactions, private placements, reorganizations and outsourcing transactions, ownership agreements and strategic alliances, and long-term wind and solar leases and easements.
Steve’s vast legal portfolio also includes advising clients on corporate governance and securities law compliance, secured lending transactions, international business and cross-border transactions, intellectual property licensing and acquisition, and private equity and venture capital transactions.
“Steve’s practice operates at the intersection of several of our core practice groups, and we look forward to how he will collaborate across teams and industries,” said Samuel Jackson, office managing partner for Spencer Fane in Nashville. “Our Nashville office is widely recognized for its dynamic strengths in established and niche service areas, and we’re always looking for opportunities to intentionally grow with multidisciplinary attorneys such as Steve.”
Steve spent seven years as in-house general counsel for an international container manufacturer, a role which contributes to his deep insights when working with manufacturing and industrial clients.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University, Steve earned his Juris Doctor from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law.
