If you walked through Deep Ellum this morning, you probably spotted a sleek new addition to the sidewalk.
Today, the City of Dallas officially wrapped up a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Main Street and N. Good Latimer Expressway to celebrate the launch of our new interactive digital kiosk network! In partnership with IKE Smart City, these smart hubs are rolling out across Dallas’ vibrant neighborhoods to completely level up how we stay connected, communicate globally, and collaborate with local communities effectively.
Here is a quick look at what these new screens bring to our streets:
Free Wi-Fi, Maps, and More
Designed as an all-in-one community resource hub, the IKE network bridges the digital divide right where you walk. Every kiosk features:
- Free Wi-Fi Hotspots: Fast, reliable internet connectivity for anyone nearby.
- Smart Wayfinding: Easy-to-use interactive maps to help you navigate our city streets.
- Multilingual Resources: Transit and mobility info available in multiple languages so everyone stays in the loop.
Ready for the Global Stage
With massive global events on the horizon—including welcoming an estimated 3.8 million sports fans for the World Cup—these kiosks are ready to guide an influx of international visitors. Tap the screen to get real-time event updates, interactive city guides, and curated recommendations for the best local spots, dining, and entertainment.
“Dallas is defined by its distinct, vibrant neighborhoods, and these new interactive kiosks will serve as integral guides, helping people explore everything our city has to offer,” said Dallas City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert. “By offering free directory listings to our independent businesses and brand activations, we are ensuring that the economic benefits of this innovative technology are felt directly within our communities.”
Boosting Local Businesses & Public Safety
These kiosks do a lot more than just point you in the right direction. They are built to support our neighborhood economies and keep communities safe:
- Love for Local: Independent shops and restaurants get free listings in the interactive directory, putting them front and center for local foot traffic.
- Safety First: In an emergency, these screens instantly pivot to display highly visible, real-time safety alerts and critical city updates.
- A Canvas for Dallas Art: Thanks to partnerships with local arts organizations, the kiosks will showcase community-driven creative content, adding a splash of local culture to our urban spaces.
Go Tap the Screen!
The first kiosks are officially live in Deep Ellum, with more expanding into additional Dallas neighborhoods soon. Next time you pass one on the sidewalk, give it a tap, explore the local business directory, and see what’s happening around you!
