Mr. Big Shot is headed to the Basketball Hall of Fame.
The big picture: Denver native and current Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was elected Wednesday as a member of the 2024 class, according to The Athletic.
State of play: During his 17-year career in the NBA, Billups won the 2004 NBA Finals MVP with the Detroit Pistons, and was a five-time All-Star selection.
- He played five seasons with his hometown Denver Nuggets over two separate stints, and played for five other teams including the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Clippers.
Between the lines: Billups graduated from George Washington High School in southeast Denver in 1995 before playing for the University of Colorado for two years.
- He was drafted third overall in the 1997 NBA Draft.
