The Denver Broncos signed safety Devon Key to a one-year exclusive rights free agent tender on Friday, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.
Key (6-0, 208 pounds) originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Western Kentucky with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021. After a stint with the Atlanta Falcons, Key landed with the Broncos‘ practice squad in 2022. As a player with accrued season, Key is set to earn $960,000 on his one-year tender.
After competing on the practice squad in 2023, he emerged as a rotational defensive back last season, dressing for all 17 games with two fill-in starts. He totaled 33 tackles and one sack in 2024.
The Broncos also gave ERFA tenders to CB Ja’Quan McMillian, OLB Dondrea Tillman, TE Lucas Krull and DL Jordan Jackson. Key, Tillman and Krull are known to have signed. McMillian and Jackson will likely sign before the start of the team’s offseason program on April 21.
