It’s amazing what an unexpected World Series appearance does for ticket sales.
By the numbers: The Arizona Diamondbacks has seen the biggest increase in StubHub ticket sales of any Major League Baseball team from last season, based on cumulative sales through March 15.
- During that time period the D-Backs saw a 300% increase in sales, according to StubHub’s MLB preview.
- Spring Training ticket sales for the D-Backs nearly doubled from last year as well.
Between the lines: That growth even surpassed the Los Angeles Dodgers, unquestionably the most hyped team in the majors after their offseason acquisition of star Shohei Ohtani.
Yes, but: Despite being the defending National League champs, Arizona didn’t crack the top 10 in overall ticket demand.
- The top spot went to the Dodgers, the first time since 2018 that honor didn’t go to the New York Yankees.
Zoom in: There’s demand to see the D-Backs on the road too.
- StubHub’s list of top 10 in-demand games, not including home openers has the D-Backs’ April 6 road game against the Atlanta Braves at ninth.
The big picture: MLB sales are up 60% compared to last season.
- StubHub is crediting the spike to international interest, particularly in the Dodgers.
