Dillon Brooks is locked in for another three seasons with the Phoenix Suns after averaging a career-high 20.2 points per game in his first year with the team.
Brooks and the Suns have agreed to an three-year, $73 million contract extension, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Wednesday.
The deal will allow Brooks to cash in on the most productive season of his career, during which he shot 43.5 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from deep.
He also averaged 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and a steal through 56 starts while helping the Suns return to the playoffs after missing out in 2025.
Brooks was previously signed through the 2026-27 season, per Spotrac. He is set to play next season with a cap hit of just under $21 million on the final year of that deal. The Suns are hard-capped at the second apron for the upcoming season but are still $4.8 million under that cap.
Phoenix went into the spring with hopes of a playoff berth in part thanks to Brooks, who averaged 20.9 points and 3.7 rebounds during the Suns’ 33-24 start to the season.
Brooks then suffered a fractured left hand in a game against the Orlando Magic on Feb. 21.
That ended up being a pivotal loss from a Suns roster already thinned by other injuries.
Although Brooks returned for the end of the regular season, Phoenix went 12-13 down the stretch to fall into the Play-In Tournament.
Brooks helped his team advance with a win over the Golden State Warriors, although the Suns were ultimately swept from the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Suns’ success prior to that late-season slump might have given the franchise hope they’ll be able to build a Western Conference contender around Brooks and Devin Booker.
Brooks, who turned 30 in January, played six seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies and two with the Houston Rockets before he was dealt to the Suns as part of the seven-team Kevin Durant trade last July.
He heads into his 10th NBA season having averaged 14.8 points and 3.3 rebounds over 548 career games.
