AS WE CELEBRATE HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH, WE WANT TO TAKE A MOMENT TO HIGHLIGHT THIS YEAR’S EL CONCILIO OF YOLO COUNTY’S RECOGNITION DINNER AND SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER TONIGHT. 12 YOLO COUNTY STUDENTS WERE HONORED AND RECEIVED COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THEIR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS AND COMMITMENT TO THEIR COMMUNITIES. DURING THIS EVENT, OUR VERY OWN LETICIA ORDAZ WAS HONORED WITH AN AWARD. SHE WAS RECOGNIZED FOR HER OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO JOURNALISM, EDUCATION AND LATINO REPRESENTATION IN MEDIA AND LITERATURE. THE AWARD SHE GOT SYMBOLIZES VIGILANCE, STRENGTH, AND COURAGE AND IS PRESENTED ANNUALL

As Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations continue across the region, El Concilio of Yolo County hosted its annual Recognition Dinner and Scholarship fundraiser. It’s a night dedicated to honoring excellence, culture, and community leadership.Twelve outstanding Yolo County students were recognized for their academic achievements and dedication to serving their communities. Ordaz was honored for her outstanding contributions to journalism, education, and Latino representation in both media and children’s literature. Through her work as an Emmy-winning journalist and award-winning bilingual author, she continues to inspire youth to embrace their culture and break barriers through storytelling.
