DURING THIS EVENT, OUR VERY OWN LETICIA ORDAZ WAS HONORED WITH AN AWARD. SHE WAS RECOGNIZED FOR HER OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO JOURNALISM, EDUCATION AND LATINO REPRESENTATION IN MEDIA AND LITERATURE. As Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations continue across the region, El Concilio of Yolo County hosted its annual Recognition Dinner and Scholarship fundraiser. It’s a night dedicated to honoring excellence, culture, and community leadership.Twelve outstanding Yolo County students were recognized for their academic achievements and dedication to serving their communities. Each recipient received a college scholarship to help further their education and continue their path toward leadership and success.During the evening, KCRA 3’s Leticia Ordaz was presented with the prestigious 2025 Águila Award, a recognition given annually to individuals who exemplify vigilance, strength, and courage in uplifting the Latino community. Ordaz was honored for her outstanding contributions to journalism, education, and Latino representation in both media and children’s literature. Through her work as an Emmy-winning journalist and award-winning bilingual author, she continues to inspire youth to embrace their culture and break barriers through storytelling.
