ELKHART, Ind. — The Elkhart Public Library’s (EPL) Pierre Moran Branch hosted Vibra Fest, celebrating the city’s Latino Heritage.
The free community festival ran from 2 to 10 p.m. and drew a diverse crown for its first year.
“To have everyone come together and enjoy a beautiful day outside with live music, food and supporting our neighbors who have their local businesses. It’s fun and it’s also it makes you feel like you’re a part of it all,” said Andrea Covarrubias, the Audience Development Coordinator of EPL.
Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson was in attendance, “this is what it’s all about is community coming together doing the right thing for everyone.”
The festival featured local vendors selling merchandise, beauty supplies and jerseys, along with food trucks, including a taco truck and a soda truck.
Covarrubias hopes this event will be one the community will continue to set on their calendar, “I hope to see more vendors and hope to see more of the younger community come in with their brand new and fresh ideas, too.”
Attendees were also able to take part in axe throwing and soccer training drills with the library’s mobile outreach vehicle also being on site.
