Fayette County BAC meets to plan workforce initiatives
WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio – The Fayette County Business Advisory Council (BAC) kicked off its 2025-2026 school year on Wednesday, Sept. 24, with a meeting focused on strengthening the collaboration between local schools, industries, and employers.
The council, part of the Southern Ohio Educational Service Center’s regional initiative, met at the Miami Trace Local Schools District Office. Members discussed the Southern Ohio ESC’s Business Advisory Council plan, which is set to be submitted to the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce later this month. The group also received an update from the Fayette County Workforce Development Steering Committee regarding plans for the newly created Workforce Development Coordinator position.
During the session, the council reviewed recent work from planning meetings in April and June. Those efforts centered on soft skills workshops and business collaboration at the College, Career, Career Tech, and Military Fair held at Miami Trace High School on Sept. 30.
Looking ahead, members discussed the meeting structure for the new school year and identified key priorities for local workforce development, with a focus on coordinating experiences and developing professional skills for future careers.
Updates were provided by Miami Trace Local Schools and Washington Court House City Schools on their current career readiness efforts. The council also heard input from local businesses and service agencies to ensure employer perspectives remain central to its work. The BAC’s mission is to bridge the needs of local education with the skills required by employers to build a thriving workforce and create a strong pipeline of local talent.
The council is supported in partnership with the Southern Ohio Educational Service Center and local school districts.
The next Fayette County BAC meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Miami Trace Local Schools District Office.
