NHCC News:

ALBUQUERQUE — In collaboration with the National Institute of Flamenco, the National Hispanic Cultural Center welcomes Festival Flamenco Albuquerque 38, bringing a week of breathtaking flamenco to the Albuquerque Journal Theatre stage starting June 20.

Celebrating its 38th year in existence, the annual Festival Flamenco Alburquerque is the largest, oldest, and most celebrated flamenco event outside of Spain. With world-class performances and renowned artists, this event offers a chance to celebrate the rich heritage and timeless allure of flamenco in the Land of Enchantment.

The festival kicks off at the Center with a pair of performances from Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía: First, Pineda premieres on Friday, June 20. This version explores the full spiritual and expressive power of poet and playwright Federico García Lorca powerful 1920s work. Accompanied by an exceptional team, Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía Artistic Director Patricia Guerrero delivers a vibrant and electrifying rendition that feels both universal and rooted in Grenada, where the play was written.

On Saturday, June 21, Tierra Bendita presents a journey through the picturesque landscapes of this southern Spanish region, showcasing its most iconic songs and dances. This production bridges tradition and modernity, blending 18th-century aesthetics with contemporary art. The next day, Nocturna presents an insomniac journey from dusk to dawn, evoking the mysteries of feeling, consciousness, and memory, on Sunday, June 22.

Festival Flamenco returns to the Center on Thursday, June 26 with Los Bailes Robados, by David Coria y compañía. In this artistic interpretation, the stage transforms into a sacralized space, invoking a ritual of rebellion to amplify the voices of the marginalized and oppressed.

Then, join us for the two-day grand finale: Fiesta Flamenca! These two gala shows, on June 27 and 28, bring together dozens of performers for a signature show. Each night features a different cast of performers, learn more at nhccnm.org/events.

Tickets start at $59 for the performances on Sunday and Tuesday, and $69 for Friday and Saturday shows. These prices include a $4 NHCC servicing fee. All NHCC shows will be held in the Albuquerque Journal Theatre in the Roy E. Disney Performing Arts Center. Head to ffabq.org for a full list of performances across Albuquerque.
