Mavrik Bourque’s new team moved quickly to sign him to a long-term deal.

Bourque had spent his entire career in the Stars organization after being drafted 30th overall in 2020. He finished 2025-26 (his second full season with the team) with 20 goals and 21 assists in 82 games. He recorded 25 points (11 goals and 14 assists) in 73 games in his rookie season in 2024-25.

The native of Canada was once seen as a foundational piece of Dallas’ future, after he led the AHL in scoring and was named the league’s MVP in 2024. But he was a restricted free agent this offseason and a top candidate to be given an offer sheet from another team the Stars likely wouldn’t have been able to match. By trading him before an offer sheet came his way, Dallas was probably looking to maximize the return for Bourque.

The Stars will now see the young talent playing for a Western Conference foe for the foreseeable future.
