FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A field of marigolds in Fresno County is helping local families prepare for Día de los Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead, while supporting a local Latino-owned business.
Marigolds are being sold at the corner of Marks and Jensen to families who use the flowers as part of Día de los Muertos celebrations. The tradition holds that the bright blooms serve as a guide for departed souls.
The field of golden flowers is especially meaningful to the community during this time of year, when many families buy marigolds for altars and other holiday observances.
Action News Photojournalist Alex Ruiz highlights the importance of the annual tradition and its connection to the community.
