Gobierno de EEUU pagó por anuncio de TV con mensaje de Trump para elecciones – The Morning Call

A primera vista, parece un anuncio típico de campaña republicana. Mientras imágenes del presidente Donald Trump aparecen en la pantalla, el spot de 30 segundos afirma: “Estados Unidos nunca será un país comunista” y presume de los “mayores recortes de impuestos de la historia”.

Pero hay algo diferente cerca del final: un texto en la parte inferior que dice “pagado por el gobierno de Estados Unidos”.

Según AdImpact, que rastrea el gasto en medios, el anuncio costó 14.000 dólares y se emitió durante programas conservadores en Fox News y Newsmax.

No está claro qué parte del gobierno de Estados Unidos pagó el spot, que incluye música de fondo con cantantes que repiten “love me”. La Casa Blanca no respondió a una solicitud de comentarios. Tampoco lo hicieron Fox News ni Newsmax.

El anuncio no dice a quién deberían apoyar los votantes en las elecciones de mitad de mandato, pero encaja con los mensajes de campaña de Trump y otros republicanos, en particular durante la inusual convención del partido en Dallas a principios de este mes.

El representante demócrata Jamie Raskin, de Maryland, quien está en posición de presidir el Comité Judicial de la Cámara de Representantes si su partido gana la mayoría en noviembre, señaló que es una violación de la Ley Hatch que empleados públicos trabajen en un video de ese tipo.

“Es descaradamente poco ético según numerosas disposiciones federales de ética que prohíben el uso de recursos del gobierno para campañas políticas”, escribió Raskin en una publicación en redes sociales.

Los republicanos también criticaron el anuncio.

El senador de Carolina del Norte Thom Tillis, quien no se postula a la reelección, mencionó al ex primer ministro húngaro de extrema derecha para criticar el anuncio.

“Es inapropiado. No es como si necesitaran una página de GoFundMe para conseguir el dinero para hacer ese tipo de anuncio; podrían hacerlo. Pero usar dinero de los contribuyentes se siente como Viktor Orban”, señaló Tillis.

El senador republicano de Luisiana John Kennedy dijo que no había visto el anuncio, pero cuestionó si era legal.

“Por lo general no me gusta ver a políticos usar dinero público para pagar sus propios anuncios de campaña”, indicó Kennedy.
