The New York-premiere play written by Pulitzer Prize winner James Ijames and directed by Tony Award nominee Saheem Ali will play The Public Theater in September.
The Public Theater has named the complete cast for its fall production of Good Bones off Broadway. Performances of the New York-premiere play run from September 19 to October 13, with opening night on October 1.
Additionally, the creative team includes scenic designer Maruti Evans, costume designer Oana Botez, lighting designer Barbara Samuels, sound designer Fan Zhang, hair and wig designer Krystal Balleza, prop manager Claire M. Kavanah, and dramaturg Jack Phillips Moore.
They join playwright James Ijames and director Saheem Ali, who previously collaborated on Ijames’s Pulitzer Prize-winning and Tony-nominated play Fat Ham at the Public and on Broadway.
Good Bones tells the story of spouses Aisha and Travis, who get an opportunity to build their dream house in, and revitalize, the blighted neighborhood Aisha grew up in. The process, however, forces Aisha to confront tricky questions about gentrification and who is welcome in the community she is building.
