The International Hispanic Theatre Festival of Miami celebrates its 38th season with performances by distinguished theater groups from Latin America, Spain, and the US in venues throughout Miami-Dade County.

The Festival spans four weeks, with performances on Thursdays or Fridays through Sundays. It is presented by Teatro Avante, Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Miami-Dade County Auditorium at Westchester Cultural Arts Center, Miami Dade College’s Koubek Center, and The Roxy Theatre Group.

Here are the essential details about the Festival:

• Venues are Westchester Cultural Arts Center, July 11-28; Adrienne Arsht Center’s Carnival Studio Theater, July 12-August 4; Koubek Center Theatre, July 12-28; and Key Biscayne Community Center, July 20.

• It will include 11 productions from eight countries: Argentina, Ecuador, Perú, Puerto Rico, Spain, the United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Performances will be in Spanish; four will be presented with English subtitles.

• It opens at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center on July 11, with a unique adaptation of “Hamlet” by La Plaza Teatro from Lima, Perú.

• It opens at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Carnival Studio Theater with Alan from Barcelona, Spain, on July 12.

•Also, on July 12, “Bruma” from Guayaquil, Ecuador, will be at the Koubek Center.

The Festival will include a Book Talk presentation of Beatriz J. Rizk’s two volumes, A History of Latinx Performing Arts in The U.S. (Routledge Handbooks), in dialogue with Prof. Luis Carlos Fallon, University of Miami, on July 18, at 7 p.m., at the Koubek Center’s Art Space.

The Festival’s popular International Children’s Day celebration will be on July 20 at 5 p.m. at the Key Biscayne Community Center and on July 21 at 2 p.m. at the Koubek Center. Peneque, “Always Brave, “a Spanish production, has been selected for this event.

The Life Achievement in the Performing Arts Award will be presented to talented Spanish actors and directors Juan Margallo and Petra Martínez on August 1, immediately before the opening performance of “Dissonance” at the Carnival Studio Theater.
