History

ORONO, Maine – Brandon Holt scored 43 seconds into overtime as the #12 University of Maine men’s ice hockey team earned a 5-4 win over #5 Boston University on Friday night at a sold-out Alfond Arena.

The teams traded goals throughout the game, with Maine responding from a one-goal deficit on four different occasions.

BU took a 1-0 lead just over three minutes into the game only to see Justin Poirier score four seconds later. The Terriers would take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission but Sully Scholle evened things up seven minutes into the second. After another BU lead at the 14:27 mark, the Black Bears again responded quickly, with Owen Fowler scoring two minutes later.

After the Terriers scored 4:05 into the third period, Poirier potted his second of the night less than three minutes later for the 4-4 scoreline. Poirier then fed Holt in overtime for the captain’s first goal of the season and the 5-4 win.
