The San Francisco Giants welcome the Atlanta Braves to Oracle Park tonight to begin a three-game series.
Taking the mound for the Giants will be right-hander Hayden Birdsong, who enters tonight’s game with a 2.37 ERA, 3.45 FIP, with 40 strikeouts to 12 walks in 38 innings pitched. His last start was in the Giants’ 4-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Sunday, in which he allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts in five and a third innings.
He’ll be facing off against Braves right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach, who enters tonight’s game with a 3.13 ERA, 3.31 FIP, with 71 strikeouts to 12 walks in 74.2 innings pitched over 12 starts. His last start was in the Braves’ 5-0 win over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday, in which he allowed just five hits with 11 strikeouts in six and a third innings.
