Eleven candidates ran in the Democratic primary for mayor, with former Governor Andrew Cuomo and state Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani leading the pack in pre-election polls.
With 93% of the vote in as of 10 p.m., Mamdani leads Cuomo 44% to 36%.
Under ranked choice voting, New Yorkers selected up to five candidates. If their top pick has the fewest first-choice votes, that candidate will be eliminated, and all of those votes are redistributed to second-choice picks. That process continues, until the winner has more than 50% of the remaining votes cast.

Those results will be released on July 1.
