A suspected labeled by police as “armed and dangerous” has been captured days after allegedly killing his father and starting a raging house fire in the Hudson Valley.
New York State Police said Thomas David Ryan was arrested on Saturday, the third day of a manhunt to track down the 32-year-old whom police believe killed his dad. They say he also intentionally set his dad’s home in Greenville, near Port Jervis, on fire.
Police said Ryan was located thanks to a series of tips from people who reported seeing his car in Gilboa, in Schoharie County. A team of officers located Ryan and placed him into custody.
Officials said the 32-year-old was transported to the hospital to be treated “for injuries sustained prior to apprehension.” He’s expected to be arraigned and charged after his condition improves.
The manhunt for Ryan began Thursday after police found his father, 70-year-old Robert Ryan, dead inside the home off Greenville Turnpike.
Chopper 4 over the scene Friday showed the house completely gutted, its charred husk darkening the ground as authorities stepped gingerly over still-burning debris.
