INDIANAPOLIS (WEVV) — The Indiana Latino Institute (ILI) recently concluded its Third Annual Education Summit and College & Career Fairs, impacting thousands of students across Indiana.

The summit series took place in South Bend, Fishers, and Evansville, offering students resources and pathways to success in education and careers.

“Across these summits, we are building bridges between education and opportunity,” said Andrew Peñalva, Acting President & CEO of ILI.

In South Bend, more than 1,000 students from 26 schools attended, learning about college applications and financial aid with guidance from more than 30 exhibitors.

Fishers hosted 1,715 students and 167 chaperones from 47 schools, with participation from over 54 employers and institutions, fostering meaningful connections.

In Evansville, 329 students from 13 schools engaged with 28 employers, supported by Ivy Tech Community College and HOLA Evansville.

Keynote speaker Ovi Vásquez shared his journey from Guatemala to entrepreneurship, highlighting the transformative power of education.

“By connecting students with mentors, institutions, and employers, we are shaping tomorrow’s workforce,” Peñalva said, emphasizing the support needed for Latino youth to thrive.
